On Tuesday, Ackerman Elementary School had more student readers and community volunteers read to students throughout the school for Read Across America Week!
Ackerman Elementary School had some wonderful readers visit on Tuesday from Choctaw County High School to come read to classes throughout the school.
Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students at Ackerman Elementary School enjoyed some photo booth time with The Cat in The Hat for Read Across America Week!
4th graders at Ackerman Elementary School were treated to lunch at Umi to celebrate reaching their “On Fire for Reading” goal!
Mrs. Hollis has her 5th graders at Ackerman Elementary School working hard on their math skills. Center work was on the agenda, and the students are doing a great job on their independent work, Accelerated Math, and with their teachers.

Mrs. Morrow’s 5th graders at Ackerman Elementary School are getting hands-on with learning about mixtures. Students are identifying materials, sorting them, and using tools to help determine their properties.

For Read Across America Week, Ackerman Elementary School had special visitors on Monday morning. The Cat in the Hat along with Thing 1 and Thing 2 greeted students as they entered the school.
Mrs. Jean Maree Mcculloch’s 4th graders at Ackerman Elementary School are doing a great job on their writing. Today students learned about the Titanic and using RAFT completed an activity with a writing performance task! Great job!
Mrs. Lisa’s and Mrs. Margie’s PreK students at Ackerman Elementary have been studying ocean life. They have had fun counting fish and matching letters in their centers, putting ocean animal puzzles together, and drawing ocean animals and coloring ocean scenes in art.
Ackerman Elementary School will be celebrating Read Across America this week! In addition to dress up days, students and volunteers will be reading during the week to a variety of classes. There will also be two photo booths set up for pictures for students to enjoy.
3rd graders at Ackerman Elementary School showed great growth on their benchmark tests and were rewarded with Bumpers for their hard work.
Zykerria Colston, a 3rd grader at Ackerman Elementary School, used her Charger Bucks to buy a lunch with a friend pass.
6th graders at Ackerman Elementary School who had excellent behavior for the first semester were rewarded with Mexican for lunch!
Students in Mrs. Amy Taylor’s class at Ackerman Elementary School are doing a great job in their writing centers! Keep up the great work!
Ackerman Elementary School hosted a Grandparents Day Luncheon for kindergarten students at the school. Thank you to all the grandparents and other family members who came to support the students.
Gracie Vickers, a 5th grader at Ackerman Elementary School, spent her Charger Bucks to be an office worker. She did a great job supervising pictures, running errands, and restocking the PBIS store.
Katherine Allman from the MS Tobacco Free Coalition came to speak to 6th graders at Ackerman Elementary School about the dangers of tobacco use and vaping.
