Ackerman Elementary School students in Mrs. Miller’s 5th grade class had a “The Floor is Lava” day! They had some really fun language activities to complete in class while staying out of lava. #teamAES
We are so thankful for our custodians, Ms. Fair and Mrs. Anderson, for keeping our school clean. We also want to say a special thank you to Mr. Ballard for cleaning our hallway floors.
Weir Elementary School library received a shipment of books that will be ready for students to check out after spring break. We were able to purchase more than sixty new books for our students from donations made to our library in memory of Mrs. Mae Balentine. We are grateful for our new library books.
Health science students have been learning about the Respiratory System this week. Today, they were studying the anatomy and terminology of the Respiratory System along with the processes of inhalation and exhalation.
Second year students in Culinary Arts have been learning about the bakeshop including yeast breads and cakes. Students worked in pairs to select a cake and icing then demonstrated how to assemble the cake and icing to their peers.
Coach Smith has his students at Ackerman Elementary School on track in PE by incorporating math skills. Shooting basketballs, adding points, and competing in teams makes for a fun day! #teamAES

Students in Mrs. Telano’s 5th and 6th grade reading class worked extremely hard the month of February researching influential African Americans from the past and present.
Each student was given a person to research and learn about. They then chose how to present their findings. These students chose to create poster boards to showcase their famous African American. Other students created a Google Slide presentation.
WES 1st & 2nd Grade have been studying about Physical Science. They have done experiments about Friction, Motion, & Force. This week they are using simple machines and force to catapult a marshmallow and cotton ball. They recorded their data and had a lot of fun! #weirexcellenceshines
WES 2nd Grade Math class is working on division. They have been working on vocabulary terms, reading math books about division, creating equal shares, and learning how to do division word problems. Great Job second grade!
BASEBALL/SOFTBALL REMINDER
The Chargers and Lady Chargers will be in action tomorrow at home. Softball will play East Webster at 5:00 & 6:30 and baseball will play Kemper County at 5:00 & 7:00. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $7.

FCE Second Graders did an awesome job creating animal habitats with their families. They are finishing up a research paper about their animals to present to their class and teachers.
French Camp Elementary recently held a PENNY WAR to help raise money for a former student, John, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. All together we raised $2,550.00 for John and his family. 1st grade won the penny war and 2nd grade raised the most money. Both classes will be treated to a hamburger/hotdog cookout. Thank you to all the students and parents who supported this worthy cause.
