Carmelita Canterberry, owner and operator of CC's Bakeshop, visited the Culinary Arts program to discuss Mississippi Cottage Food Businesses. She discussed the rules regarding a cottage food business such as allowable food products and sale requirements. The Cottage Food Business gives home bakers and cooks the opportunity to make income without owning a restaurant or bakery. She also taught students how to make some of her most popular food items: soft caramel candies and peanut brittle. Students learned about cooking sugar to varying temperatures to create different confections.
