Choctaw County CTC Sports Medicine and Healthcare and Clinical Services students participated in a great learning experience at the University of MS Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, MS. During the morning Discovery Day, students had the opportunity to network and connect with professors and current students from many healthcare programs offered at UMMC (i.e. medical school, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, nursing, dental, radiology, pharmacy, and many others). Later during a tour of UMMC’s AirCare One emergency services facility, students met with a flight paramedic and a pilot to discuss careers in the emergency medicine field as well as tour of two of the largest emergency medical helicopters in the state of MS. Overall, the students were able to gain essential exposure to potential future healthcare careers and educational programs at UMMC.
